Now is the time for you to choose,
To spread your wings and fly away,
Or stay within my woodland world,
Where you’ll be loved each day.
For other men will offer you,
A gilded cage or empty sky,
And paint you as their pretty one,
Then make you captive prize.
Oh little bird, I wish that you,
Could find contentment here,
But love and freedom you deserve,
To choose my woods or not.
So spread your wings and feel the air,
Don’t worry for your woodsman’s heart,
Just know that you are always loved,
Whether you stay or you depart.
